Obituary For Robert Wilson

Mr. Robert Harold “Wilt” Wilson entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. He was born on June 7, 1954 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Robert Lewis Wilson and the late Betty Lou Patterson Wilson.

Robert was a 1972 graduate of Burns High School where he was a football player his sophomore year and bus driver. Holding various positions during the years, he was last employed with Anvil Knitwear in Kings Mountain before his health declined.

“Wilt” as he was known by many was a very loving, kind and well liked person. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, watching drag races and riding motorcycles. He was an avid fan of Carolina Panthers and he especially loved being around his sons and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joey Wilson; paternal grandmother Cleo Roberts Wilson (Marshall); maternal grandparents, Claude and Maggie Mae Cunningham Patterson and a niece, Ebony Banks.

Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Robert Depriest Wilson of Charlotte, NC and Robin Maurece Whitworth (Myra) of Cherryville, NC; a brother, Anthony Wilson; sister, Freda Wilson both of Kings Mountain, NC; three grandchildren, Robyn, Enijahe and Chataveon; two great-grandchildren, Kenyell and Kentrell; nephew, Bryan Keith Logan; three nieces, Terrie Banks, Cherie Schenck and Amber Thompson; an aunt, Pauline Patterson Mauney; special friend, Sheila Stokes of Kings Mountain and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Washington Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
