Obituary For Jennie Nance

Ms. Jennie Mae Nance, departed this life on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. She was born on November 22, 1951 in Cleveland County, NC to the late George Nance, Sr. and the late Hattie Glenn Nance.

Jennie attended Shoal Creek Baptist Church when she was younger. She loved family gatherings, cooking and growing flowers. Jennie was fond of everyone and full of life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Chivis Nance, James Nance and George “Samp” Nance, Jr.; six sisters, Betty Card, Ethel Woods, Thelma Kelly, Lucille Adams, Dochia Nance and Laura Lee Mathis and one special cousin Cherilyn Willis.

She leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Anthony Jerome Nance, Ann Jeanette Nance, Brooklyn Gregory and Wendy Nance Brooks (T.C.); nine grandchildren, including Kaylasia Gregory who was reared in her home; eight great-grandchildren; two sister, Mary Nance and Christine Nance; a sister-in-law, Betty Jean Nance and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 3:30 PM at Ellis Chapel Bapist Church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends form 3:00 PM until 3:30 PM on Thursday and at other times at 201 E Ross Grove Rd. Shelby.
