Obituary For Jennie Camp

Mrs. Jennie B. Camp, 83, of 410 Atlantic Avenue, Shelby, N.C. entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Wendover Hospice House, Shelby, N.C. A native of Shelby, NC, she was born June 21, 1941 to the late James Edward Borders, Sr. and the late Maybell Moss Borders.

She was as a graduate of Cleveland High School and employed for over 20 years at Ester Mill and was a caretaker for 15 years.

Sister Jennie was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she faithfully served as President of Usher Board, Culinary Ministry, Women’s’ Auxiliary, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, and Annie Jones Missionary.


Sister Jennie exemplified unwavering faith in God, which she shared generously with her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Her life was a testament to the strength derived from her spiritual beliefs, and she tirelessly instilled these values in all who knew her. Her love knew no bounds; it was both unconditional and eternal.

Known for her warmth and hospitality, Sister Jennie embraced all who crossed her doorstep, treating everyone as family. Her home was a sanctuary of love and laughter, where Sunday dinners became cherished gatherings of fellowship and nourishment. Her culinary talents were legendary, and no guest ever left her table without feeling both full in stomach and heart.

Sister Jennie's devotion extended beyond her family and friends; she was a dedicated mother and wife whose nurturing spirit touched countless lives. Her presence brought comfort, her smile radiated joy, and her kindness was a example of hope to all who were fortunate to know her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Regina Borders; siblings: Clara Davis, James Edward Borders, Jr., Charles Borders (Rosie), Joseph Borders (Lena Mae), John Nelson Borders and a great granddaughter Aria Keaton.

Jennie leaves to cherish hermemories,the love of her life Ward “Henry” Camp for over 50 years, her children: Donna Borders (Jonathan) of Kings Mountain, NC, Rodney Borders (Lisa), John “Jack” Borders (Sandy), Alvin Borders, Shirley Ann Montgomery (Darryl) all of Shelby, NC; sisters Betty Jean Manuel, and Lillian Herring both of Shelby, N.C.; brothers, Robert Lewis Borders and Martin Larry Borders (Ronnie) both of Greensboro; a sisters-in-law Bennie Borders, Dorothy Watkins,Elois Camp and Betty Ann Camp; grandchildren Porsha Russell,Kay’se Wilson, Brittany Roberts, William “Tre”Edward Wilson III, Barrance “TJ” Roberts Jr., Brianna Roberts, Jalynn Borders,Jasmine Keaton (Alton), Sharron “Reka” McDowell, Preston McDowell, Dustin Borders (LaQuandra), Jarmarus “Mikey” Borders,Reid Houser,and Terron Mack; 14 great grandchildren, a great-great grandchild; a special niece, Melani Hoey, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Shelby, NC at 2:30 p.m. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery.
