Mrs. Gala Laverne Sanders Reinke, 73, of Charlotte, NC,passed away peacefully on November 5, 2022 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. She was born on December 18, 1948 in Shelby, NC to the late Walter & Sue Sanders.
“Bonnie”, as she was affectionately known to everyone, had an infectious smile and laugh. She was educated in Shelby public schools and graduated in 1967 from Cleveland High School. She continued her education at Cleveland Technical College and pursued a degree in Nursing. For over 20 years, Bonnie was a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse at Hawthorne Nursing Center. She also cared for the sick as a private duty nurse before completing her career at Saturn Nursing Home.
Bonnie leaves to cherish her fondest memories to her husband of 22 years, Allen Reinke; one son, Shawn Brown(Angela) of Charlotte, NC; beloved daughter, Shannon Brown of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Dasia Davis of Charlotte, NC; two grandsons, Shawn Brown and Tyrele Powell both of Charlotte, NC; her dearest great granddaughter, Raelynn Stevenson of Charlotte, NC, great granddaughters, Maliyah & Mohoni Brown; brother, Billy C. Sanders of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Dianne Sanders of Shelby, NC and Sonda S. Kennedy of Charlotte, NC; nieces, Modestine (Teenie) Blanton of Durham, NC, Connie Kennedy of Charlotte, NC, Ansley Kennedy of Falling Waters, WV, and Lincy Genrette of Shelby, NC; nephew, Todd Barron of Atlanta, GA; cousins, Faye Allison of Shelby, NC and Louise (DeeDee) Wade of Kansas City, MO; goddaughter, Willisha Green of Gastonia, NC; special friends, Harriet Adams of Gastonia, NC and John Huskey of Greensboro, NC; and a host of cousins and lifelong friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 1:30 PM at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:30 PM at the chapel.
