Mr. Eddie Lee Martin departed this life on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby. He was born on November 23, 1957 to John and Virginia Ross Martin in Cleveland County, NC.
Eddie graduated from Crest High School and served in the U.S. National Guard for 21 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He was a loving brother as well as a dedicated friend who everyone loved and could depend on in the time of need. In addition, Eddie will be remembered as a vey giving and humble person with a good heart.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Ross Martin; one daughter, Jaquitha Eskridge and a sister, Mary Gingles.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 39 years, Bonnie Eskridge Martin; a son, Rodney Eskridge of Morganton, NC; a daughter, Tameka Martin of Shelby; 2 brothers, Johnny Martin of Shelby and Filbert Martin (Jackie) of Montgomery, AL; 1 sister, Sherry Degree of Shelby; 3 grandchildren raised in the home, Kenyatta Eskridge of Shelby and Maykala Wray and QuiDarryl Wray both of the home; additional grandchildren, Ja’Cari and Makinly Martin both of Shelby; great-grandchildren, Zyelle and Zineyah Eskridge, Kaylani Wray and Ny’Zhir Allen; 6 sisters-in-law; 5 brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Hoppers Chapel Baptist Church. The service will be livestreamed starting at 1:15 PM from Enloe Mortuary Facebook Page. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:30 PM and at other times at 717 Blanton Street Shelby.
So sorry to hear of Eddie's passing , we served in the National Guard together , this is the first I've heard of this . Prayers for comfort and healing for the family and friends !
