Mr. Charles Buddy Reese, 87,departed this life on Monday, December 21, 2020 at his residence in Shelby, NC. He was born on October 5, 1933 in Carnegie PA to the late George and Mary White Reese.
Charles was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. After serving in the Navy, he became a professional Body Builder, traveling and winning several tournaments and trophies. Along with body building, he was employed with the U.S. Postal Service before retiring. After leaving school at an early age to help his parents economically, he returned and received his High School diploma in 1975 to show to his family the importance that education was essential.
He met his beloved wife Gladys at her sister’s wedding and followed her back to Maryland until she said yes to marry him. Out of their union were four children born and they remained united in holy matrimony until her passing in 2017.
After rededicating his life to the Lord in 2018, Charles joined Wheat Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Rutherfordton, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Marie Reese.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Vivian Lawrence of Shelby, NC, James Avery Reese of Pittsburgh, PA, Yvonne Reese Denise Quinones (Geraldo) of Puerto and Marvin Lee Reese (Susan) of Pittsburgh; one brother, Raymond Reese (Thelma); one sister, Lois Williams both of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Donna Lawrence-Brown, Danny Lawrence, Jr., Vivian Lawrence Mosley, Latria Lawrence Giles (David), Jessica Lawrence Anderson (David),Donald Lawrence, (Lisa), Sarah Lawrence Etinne (John), David Lawrence (Tanisha), Denise Lawrence, Kanisha Reese, DeAngelo Dawkins, Kevin Dawkins and Samuel Quinones; thirty-four great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Reese are private. Burial will take place at Wheat Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Rutherfordton, NC.
