Obituary For Brenda McGill

Mrs. Brenda Ann Hopper McGill departed this life for her eternal home on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby, NC. She was born on June 8, 1957 in Cleveland County, NC to the late William D. Young and the late Nellie Mae Hopper Young.

As a hardworking individual, Brenda worked at PPG Industries, Advil Knit and National Textile. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, driving, cooking, hosting family gatherings and her “amusements”.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Eugene McGill; step-son, Michael McGill, Jr and sisters, Wanda Jean Hopper, Phyllis Davis and Lora Jane Lockhart.

She leaves to cherish her memory, children:, Typain Hopper, Quavis Deon Harper and Rodrick Young; godson, Devoshia Surratt; stepdaughters, Micshandia Giles-McGill and Jessica Bradford Watson (Jeremiah); 3 grandchildren Rashaud Young, Quavion Harper and Quanell Harper sisters, Nadine Gullatte Wallace, Martha Hopper Flack (Alvin), Carol Huskey, Sherry Wray, Jeanette Hopper, Neilla Young and Sheila Young; brothers-in-law, Freddie McGill, Larry Hopper and Jerry Thompson; aunts, Alma Jean McShaw and Dorothy Hopper; uncle, Alphonso Hopper and a special cousin Sally Hopper and a host of nieces and nephews many of whom she helped to rear, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church. The service will be live-streamed on Enloe’s Mortuary Facebook Page starting at 2:45 PM. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until 3:00 PM and at other times at 2566 S. Post Road Shelby.
