Charlotte, NC -- On December 18, 2020, Mason Alexander Ashe (80) received his ultimate promotion into heaven. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Betty Jane Ashe of Charlotte, NC; son Mason Prentice Ashe (57) and wife Gena Hudgins Ashe of Vineyard Haven, MA, and their daughter Kyndall Lynn Ashe of San Francisco; son Clifton Alexander Ashe (47) and wife Denise Conley Ashe of Charlotte, NC; niece Alison Ashe of Bristol, Vermont; aunt Esther Mae Ramseur of Buffalo, NY; and a host of loving relatives and friends throughout North Carolina and the east coast of the US.
Mr. Ashe was born in Lincolnton, NC, on January 28, 1940, and was predeceased by his parents Mason Marion Ashe and Anne Pralow Ashe, and older sister Doris Ashe. He was a graduate of Newbold High School in Lincolnton, and later received an associate's degree from Bryant and Stratton College in Buffalo, NY; and earned numerous executive education certificates from Princeton University while Corporate Security Manager at Western Electric and AT&T for over 30 years where he retired. He also proudly served 12 years in the US Naval Reserve on the USS Patterson before receiving an Honorable Discharge with rank of SK2 - Petty Officer Second Class, USNR-R.
Mr. Ashe enjoyed fishing, hunting, researching genealogy, and organizing extended family reunions and cultural events highlighting his heritage - especially his researched connection to the Cherokee Nation. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his immediate family, and high school classmates.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks relatives and friends to consider making contributions in honor of Mason A. Ashe to the 501(c)3 tax exempt charity (EIN: 56-1530653) he diligently served to provide student scholarships. Mason always had a good kind spirit, wanting to put a smile on your face. He always could tell you what was going on in Buffalo ,even though he lived in NC . He will be miss . Rest in PEACE..
