I met Hazel when I came to North Atlanta as a supervisor. When she found out I graduated from her Alma Mater Booker T. Washington it was on line popcorn. She was always warm and thoughtful but did not take any mess from anybody. When my daughter Zion was born Hazel went out of her way to give us a beautiful baby carriage. I will always love and treasure her and those memories.

to the family of Hazel Avery: I didn't hear of Hazel's passing until this past Sunday. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and reading. to Hazel's family: I know Hazel's spiritual gift was service because she was so good at it. There's not many people that I consider to be my friend. But Hazel Avery was definitely my friend. When she found out that I had cancer and then had to have chemo, Hazel was right there, sending me get well cards and calling to she if she could help me with anything. I tell you. People like Hazel Avery don't come along often. I thank God for blessing me to have met her and have her for a friend.
