Obituary For Wendy Darien Mason

June 26th, 1965, was a day of great celebration, for on that day, Wendy Darien Mason was born to the late Leroy and Mary Dairen in Philadelphia, PA. She was the first of two children, with her baby sister being Alicia Darien. She was affectionally called Peaches, Mom, Auntie, and more. A very protective and lovely sister, she was there on more than one occasion to protect her sister. She always looked out for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leroy & Mary Darien, her sister Alicia Darien, and her surrogate mother, Alice Parker, and her husband, Rev. Wallace Mason.

Public viewing will be held Friday, June 9, 2023 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Jones Grove Baptist Church, 5064 Highway 1 north, Louisville, GA 30434.

Interment will be held in the church cemetery.

She was married to Rev. Wallace Mason in 1993, the love of her life, and to this union, two children were born. Her children were the love of her life She gave them a Christian upbringing and instilled in them good characteristics and morals. She was a scholar endowed with innate wisdom and understanding. She was educated in the Jefferson County public school system and attended Savannah State College, now known as Savannah State University. She also went to Southeastern Technical College.

She joined Jones Grove Baptist Church at an early age and has been in the church since her early life. While attending Savannah State College, she joined Jonesville Baptist Church. She was always a church member and encouraged her children to join as well. During her time of death, she was a member of the Overcoming Ministry.

When in Savannah, Ga, she was employed by the state government for many years. After returning to Louisville, Georgia, the home-based, she joined Walmart, where she was employed for many years until her death.

She leaves to cherish her sweet memories: her children Zephadiah & Jolise Mason, her granddaughter Destini Jhiani Dixon, and her niece Ka-Lisha Credle. Her surrogate brothers Ronald (Wilma), Larry (Lauryn), Reginald (Robbin), and Vincent, as well as her surrogate father Larry Sabor; her best friend and confidante Sherita Odom Worthen, special friend Charlie Johnson and a special son Jerry Dowdy Jr. As well as five aunts, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, a host of cousins, and friends.

Wendy was a delight to be around. She was ambitious and sweet. Things would get done as long as she was able. In Wendy’s eyes, no one was a stranger but someone to love, appreciate, and respect. Wendy was there if anyone needed her. She was always surrounded by her loving dogs, family, and friends. Wendy Mason will truly be missed.
