Elder Roy Toliver transitioned peacefully at the VA Hospital in Augusta, Georgia on the morning of January 8, 2023 after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries, Wadley. Georgia with Military Honors.
Interment will be held in Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Davis Funeral Home.
Roy was born on July 17, 1947 in Bartow, Georgia to the late Mariah Toliver Jackson. Roy was reared by his grandparents, the late Robert and Rodever Toliver. Upon graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in Sandersville, GA, Roy joined the United States Army for two years, one of which was spent fighting in the Vietnam War. He later studied automotive mechanics during his enrollment at Swainsboro Area Vocational and Technical School. Roy began a 41-year career at Thermo King in 1970. As a devoted member of Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries, Wadley, he served in several capacities, including: an Administrative Elder, Sunday School Superintendent, member of the Board of Trustees, and a member of the finance committee for several years. Elder Roy Toliver had a fervent desire to remain a faithful servant to the Lord and remained active until it was no longer possible, due to his illness.
Elder Toliver was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Rodever Toliver, his mother, Mariah Jackson, his sister, Effie Jackson, his aunt Ruby Kate Jackson, and his uncle Robert Lee Toliver.
Roy leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife of 49 and ½ years, Hazel Louise Toliver, four children, Germaine (Heather), Kristy, Geremy (Cecily), and Kimberly Toliver, four grandchildren, Aniya, Aryn, Amaris, and Aulani Toliver, three brothers, Theodore (Beatrice) Jackson, Leo (Ethel) Jackson, and James Jackson, two sisters, Jonnie Parks & Joyce Davis, five sisters-in-law Queen (Jocephus) Johnson, Gail Brown, Carolyn Brown, Regina Mackins, and Gwendolyn Mackins, three brothers-in-law, Ralph (Jackie) Brown, Thomas Brown, Anthony (Sandra) Brown, a special sister-in-law, Mary Ethel Ingram, five aunts, Sally Johnson, Lucille Smith, Wilhemina Toliver, Rodever Toliver, and Cora Lee Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides spending quality time with his family, Roy had a passion for working outdoors, playing guitar, visiting relatives, and solving puzzles.
Distinguished memories of Roy will include his fervent desire to provide for his family, being a servant for Christ as well as an undying willingness to assist those in need. Roy touched the lives of many, both near and far. His legacy will include his love for his family, integrity, wisdom, and work ethic.
