Mr. Ricky Palmer was born on July 31, 1964, in the vibrant city of Manhattan, New York, at the esteemed Bellevue Hospital. From an early age, Mr. Palmer exhibited a strong commitment to his education, attending the PS 140 school system where he laid the foundation for his academic journey. He furthered his education at Taft High School in the Bronx, New York, where he not only excelled academically but also developed valuable life skills and friendships that would last a lifetime.
After completing high school, Mr. Palmer embarked on a new chapter in his life by relocating to Georgia. It was here that he joined the workforce and became a valued member of FPL FWD LLC. His dedication and professionalism in his role have made a significant impact on the company and his colleagues.
Throughout his journey, Mr. Palmer has demonstrated resilience, a strong work ethic, and a passion for growth, traits that continue to inspire those around him. His life story is one of continuous development and a commitment to excellence in all endeavors.
Ricky is remembered fondly by his family and friends. Ricky made his transition on Thursday, January 2, 2025. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Julia Bell Palmer and Willie Huey Vining, as well as his paternal grandparents, Trudie Mae Hannah Vining and Eddie Vining, and maternal grandparents, Mattie Johnson Palmer and Jake Palmer.
Ricky is survived by his cherished children: Ricky “Ricky Shay” Cunningham of Charlotte, NC, Ricquan Palmer of Augusta, GA, and Chance Palmer of Wadley, GA. He leaves behind his loving sisters, Susie (Willie) Hardy of New Castle, Delaware, Stacy Vining, Shytika Vining, and Sherlisely Vining, all of the Bronx, New York. His family also includes uncles Tommy (Constance) Palmer of Hephzibah and Will Albert (Shirley) Palmer of Virginia, aunts Trudie Vining of Wadley and Mamie Vining of New York, and niece Kiya Smith of Dover, Delaware.
Ricky's memory will also be honored by his devoted caregivers, Maylou Williams, Betty Jean (Darrell) Jackson, Yaishia Rolle and Shawanna Stone as well as his close friends Ricky Lee Lewis, Nick Brown, Carton Williams, Greg Hunter, and Charles Mills. He is surrounded by a loving community of family and friends who will always cherish his memory.
Celebrations of Life will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at James and Virginia Davis Chapel, 727 Beech Street, Louisville, Georgia. His Final resting place will be in the Brinson Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Wadley, GA
Public viewing will be held Friday, January 10th at Davis Funeral Home, from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M.
