I was notified of the passing of Lester "Big Jack" Jackson. Heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones. I was beset with a flood of emotions and a plethora of memories. I was fortunate enough to spend time with Jack in several different environments. He was a bear of a man with the heart of a lion. I saw him work in the trenches during our football days at Albany State College. He was an outstanding player and teammate. I will always have a visual of Jack walking the yard or walking Macintosh Hall. It didn't matter the season or weather; the one constant was that white towel. It was usually slung over his shoulder or in his possession. He was never without a towel and it was never dirty. Our time spent during those years and after will always be cherished memories. We might all have different memories of Jack or different names we called him. But we all were able to call him a friend. Rest in peace, my friend.
