Deacon Claude MacDonald Dowden, III, Walden Street, Wadley, GA, departed this life Sunday, August 8, 2021. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:00 at Brinson Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Wadley, GA with mask and social distancing. You are welcome to bring your own chair. Mr. Dowden, was born to the parentage of the late Claude MacDonald Dowden, Jr and Sarah Dowden in Sixpound, N.C. In 1956 he entered the US Army where he served until his honorable discharge in 1962. Claude then moved to New York where he lived most of his life. He served faithfully at William's Temple Pentecostal Church and was an Ordained Deacon. He and his loving wife, Darlene later moved to Wadley, GA where he worked as a truck driver for several years at Mays Trucking Company. He joined the Christian family at Brinson Hill Baptist Church where he continued to serve as a dedicated Deacon until his health failed. He is preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Jacqueline Freeman and Melissa Freeman. He is survived by his devoted wife, Darlene Freeman Dowden, Wadley, GA; sons, Maurice (Rebecca) Freeman Dowden, State College, PA, Kamel Freeman, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Maurice A. Freeman, Wadley, GA; three daughters, Lavon Freeman, Augusta, GA, Beverly Williams, Staten Island, N.Y., Juliet (Zackary) Carmichael, Brooklyn, N.Y. ; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
