Dorothy Louise Tillman Crawford was daughter of the late Rebecca Falls and the late Otis Hill. She was raised by the late Nettie Crosby Torrence and the late Albert Torrence. She transitioned from this life on Friday, June 4, 2021 at her residence in Lowell, NC.
Louise attended public schools in Gaston County, NC where she received a high school education. She worked for Burlington Industries in Ranlo, NC as a yarn winder for 30 years and she also worked for Lowell Elementary School in Lowell, NC as a cafeteria worker and custodian for 45 years.
At an early age, Louise became a member of Wright’s Chapel AME Zion Church in Lowell, NC. After marriage to the late, Neal F. Crawford, Jr., she became a faithful member of Greater Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC where she was a Girl Scout Leader, Usher, a member of the hymn choir, missionary department, and the head of the kitchen ministry. She was also the former Mrs. Mount Hebron Queen. Her hobbies included collecting bells, cooking, gardening, word search puzzles, travelling, listening to music, especially her favorite R&B artist, Luther Vandross.
Louise was a very caring person and there was nothing should would not do for her family, community and church. Most of all, she was a loving Wife, Mother, Granny, and GiGi.
Lousie was preceded in death by her husband, Neal F. Crawford, Jr., a son, Todd F. Crawford; a sister, Mary Frances Jackson; two brothers, Gerald Hill and Robert Falls; two grandsons, Fredrick R. Crawford and Todd A. Crawford
She leaves to cherish memories of her beautiful life: her children, Gloria D. Crawford; Freddie D. Crawford (Glenda); Delores P. Wellman; Dora C. Patton (David); Cheryl C. Horton, all of Gastonia, NC; Patrice C. Davenport of Blacklick, Oh, and Rosalind C. Graham (Eric) of Gastonia, NC; an aunt, Anabelle H. Gardin of Gastonia, NC; a sister-in- law, Mary C. Howard of Chicago, IL; brother-in-law, Justice Jackson of Gastonia, NC, special nephew, James Davis of Harlem, NY and her beloved dog, Z’oz; 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren; 1 great -great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
