James Curtis Hughes, Sr., also known as “Kirk” and Curfew” to his family and friends was born to the late Willie Henry and Margaret Burns on October 9, 1961, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was the baby of six children, of which three were boys and three were girls. He attended Walker Elementary and Stranahan High School. In 2018 he moved to Tallahassee, Florida with his niece, Schwanda Cunningham who became his pastor. He was baptized by his pastor, Apostle Schwanda Cunningham. Curtis and his wife served faithfully in the ministry. Whenever the ministry would travel, James served as the assistant cameraman filming for Christian Television Programs affiliate KLGNTV alongside a very close friend, Pastor Kelley of Quincy, Florida.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in eternal rest by his wife, Deloris Hughes, sisters, Ruthie Mae Burns, Catherine Thomas, and Isabelle Countryman.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, James Curtis Hughes Jr., daughter, Tanequa Harrell, both of Syracuse, New York, son, Ahmad Kendrick, Ft. Lauderdale, brother (the oldest) Neally Cunningham, Sr., of Melbourne, Florida (originally of Ft. Lauderdale), Andrew Cunningham (2nd oldest) of Ft. Lauderdale, sister-in-law, Jurial Williams, Cocoa, Florida, grandchildren, bonus daughters, Audrey Collins, Denise Collins, Jasmine Sanders, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
