Obituary For Mattie Pearl Watson

On November 13, 2022, Mattie Pearl Watson, of Blakelyville Road Clinton SC; vacated her earthly tabernacle and was called from labor to reward. She is now in the presence of our Almighty God. While we grieve the loss of a Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Niece and friend; we can now rejoice in the life that she has lived. God blessed and allowed Mattie Pearl Watson, to grow gracefully to the age of 80 years of life. She was born and raised in Spartanburg County on June 11, 1942, to the late John T. and Lillie Mae Degraphenreid Booker. She attended New Bethel High School in Woodruff, SC. Mrs. Watson she was a retired State Employee. She spent her time working part-time at Presbyterian College and serving as a member of the Bethlehem Grove Baptist Church Family for over 60 years where she faithfully served as a member of the Lady’s Auxiliary Choir. Those celebrating her life and sharing precious and loving memories include: her daughters Pamela (Reverend Courtney) Mills of Enoree, SC and Amanda (Cosmas) Dickey, Sr. of Laurens, SC and one stepdaughter: Adrena Richey of Detroit, MI; six grandchildren: Roshonda “Nikki” Watson, Shanika Richey, Nicholas (Jerica) Mills, Cosmas “Drey ” Dickey Jr., Keenan Dickey, and Kendrick Dickey; five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Her siblings include two brothers: Otis (Aubrey) Booker of Cross Anchor, SC and Ronald (Lessie) Booker of Fountain Inn, SC; and five sisters: Virginia Metts of Clinton, SC, Bessie Stephens of Woodruff, SC, Elizabeth Linder of Spartanburg, SC, Carrie Bell Booker of Cross Anchor, SC, and Starlene (Rev. John) Hill of Whitmire, SC; two sister-in-laws Rita Booker and Mattie E. Booker ; and a host of relatives and friends.

The service was held November 19,2022 at Bethlehem Grove Baptist Church in Clinton, SC and her final resting in the church cemetery.
