Sending words of comfort and prayers to the family for the loss of their mother and grandmother. Tandi Watson Fortier
Sis Blakely and I traveled to a District Meeting for the Order of the Eastern Star in Honea Path. I looked forward to our ride together and learn from her wisdom as a "seasoned" Matron since that year was my first year as a Matron. Praise God for allowing Sis Blakely to be a part of my life! What a wonderful legacy Sis Blakely has left for generations within her family and the community. God's Peace and Blessings to the family always, ~Michelle Geter
Mrs. Blakely was my second grade teacher during the 1989-1990 school year. She was a strict teacher, but I knew she cared for her students. That school year, I began attending New Bethel AME Church. Seeing her at church made me think I was seeing a superstar. When I was in high school, she was still interested in my education; she took me to testing sites to apply for scholarships. What she may not have had the opportunity in knowing is that I have four education degrees—one of which being a Doctor of Educational Leadership. Her early influence in my life has shaped who I am today, and I am eternally grateful.
