Clarence Edward Smith, Sr., 88, of Red Oak, Virginia entered eternal rest at Pruitt Health, Durham, North Carolina on Saturday, November 5, 2022. He was born on March 9, 1934 to the late Giles and Mamie Smith. Clarence graduate from Central High School in Charlotte County, Virginia. He attended Southside Virginia Community College. After 30 years of employment at Burlington Industries as an Electrician, he decided to retire. Clarence farmed for many years. Clarence was a member of the Locain Masonic Lodge#208. Among his favorite pastimes, Clarence enjoyed hunting and carpentry. As a youth, Clarence made Salem Baptist Church his home. For a very long time, Clarence took joy in serving on the Usher Board. In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Olivia Armstrong Smith; son, Antonio Smith; and three siblings, Jesse Smith, Beatrice Robinson and Ralph Smith. Left to cherish precious memories are his two daughters; LaToyce Smith and Vivian Smith (Ray); two sons; Clarence Smith, Jr. (Joan) and Curtis Smith; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters; Dorothy Foster, Mary Harris and a host of nieces, nephews,family and friends.
