I met Mrs. Davenport when she was a resident of the Sweet Memories unit at Commonwealth Assisted Living. My father, Phil Turner, was also a resident there. I always spoke to her when I would visit my Dad. She always smiled. One day she said to me "I know you, you're from my Mount Vernon Church". I said I was, even though I'm not (sorry for the deception), but it seemed to make her happy. I loved watching her sing the gospels during music therapy. My sympathy to the family. I understand the mixed blessing this is. I just tell myself that our loved ones will have been restored by God's grace when we see them again. Annette Scheig

Row Row, you are truly going to be missed. My condolences to the family. She was such a wonderful person with a heart of gold. She would be able to put a smile on my face even on the worse days of my life. I will miss her teasing me every time she saw me she would tell anyone that would be around that I used to steal her husband when I was 2 years old . I used to come over to the barber shop and Earnie Boy would stop what ever he was doing to put me up on the counter and give me a hug , a piece of candy and a soda . She would always joke and say you stole my husband. God I am gonna miss this sweet woman so much . My heart and prayers go to the entire family . Love Connie Walker and Family.

Her obituary indicated 4 sons. I consider myself to be a fifth son. For the love and respect that was shown from her to me, and likewise me to her. Not only was she a mother, grandmother, aunt, preacher, etc. I also consider her a saint by the way she carried herself working throughout all the communities and the local counties. To the family you have my condolence. -Herbert Nickens

Deepest condolences and prayers to the family!! May God console your hearts!!
I considered Rowena a dear friend. I especially appreciated her sense of humor and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ. I remember when I served as pastor at White Stone Baptist church and our church was hosting a community Thanksgiving service. I had personally invited Rowena and Mt. Vernon Baptist Church to the service. When Rowena arrived I asked her if she would give the benediction. She agreed and at the end of the service came up to the pulpit and offered the benediction. She later told me she never dreamed that she would have had the opportunity to stand behind the pulpit at White Stone Baptist Church. I am happy that she had that opportunity. Praying God's peace and comfort on you in the days ahead. God bless.
