Obituary for Willie Lee Burgess Sr “The Souse Man” “Tender” Born September 25, 1940 to Elizabeth Singletary and Tom Burgess Sr. Migrated to Pahokee in 1947 Worked for JG Weeks and Sons from late 1960s to the late 1980s, on and off throughout the years He went on to Sugar Cane Growers COOP where he retired in 2007. He drove trucks and provided lawn services afterwards to keep busy. “The Souse Man” – from Mid 1980’s-2018, he cooked and sold Pork Souse. He was extremely well known for his delicious souse recipe. Departed February 1, 2021 at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee Fl. Proceeded in death by his parents, several siblings and 4 children Willie Jr, Anita, Debra and Gregory Children: Joyetta (Maurice) Burgess, Willie (Linda) Burgess, Dorothy Webb, and Patricia (Lorenzo) Carter Grandchildren: Willie (Marquita)Smith, Joseph Francis, Antonio Francis, Dominic White, Wilzavier and Isha Richardson, Brandon Bush, Tim’Quonisha and Tim’Quonshae Thompson, Terriyah Bradley, Nikayah White and Amaur Shazier Siblings: Mary Baker, Rutha M. Turner, Robert Turner, Tom Burgess Jr, Betty Gardiner, and Harry (AC) Burgess Uncle: James (Ruth)Burgess, Aunt- Janie M. Burgess Special Nephews- Clarence and Darnell Oliver, Tyrone Baker and brothers. Special Family- The Weeks Family 8 great grands, host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
