Obituary For Tamiya Nemika Register Blankumsee

Tamiya Nemika Register Blankumsee

It is with a heavy heart that the staff of Blankumsee, Thomas, & Wright Funeral Services announce the peaceful passing of a true beacon of light and love in our lives. Tamiya Nemika Register Blankumsee of Quitman, Georgia, on March 5, 2024, surrounded by her most treasured loved ones. Tamiya was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 7, 1976, to her loving parents, Solomon “Gene” Blankumsee, Sr. and Catherine Register Blankumsee.

Tamiya, always known for her contagious sense of humor and love of life, is survived by her pride and joy, her son Kamari Blankumsee. Her memory will also live on in the hearts of her parents; her siblings, India Blankumsee and Solomon Blankumsee, Jr.; her nephew, Omar Blankumsee; special friend/sister, Onethia Felton; and a host of aunts and uncles: Odessa Blankumsee, Arleen Golden, Willie James Register, Jr. (Kathy), Oliver Register, Alice Register, Sarah Skinner, Carolyn Scruggs, and Michael Register (Wanda). Tamiya was proceeded in death by her grandparents: Jack and Eddie Bell Blankumsee and Willie James and Callie Register.

Tamiya was a graduate of Westlake High School in Atlanta, Georgia, but her adult life was spent as an avid fan of the Brooks County Trojans! Those who were blessed to know Tamiya will always remember her tremendous pride in her son and his accomplishments as a recent graduate of Brooks County High School, his love and success as an athlete throughout his childhood, and his current pursuit of his education and collegiate athletics as a Fort Valley State University Wildcat! Beyond her immense encouragement as a devoted mother and loving family member and friend, Tamiya dedicated much of her love and energy as an avid member of Shumate Street Church of Christ where she was a cherished leader of the Youth Department. Her love for the community was also evident in her work in the school system, most recently as a staff member with the ECHOES afterschool program at North Brooks Elementary School. She was also a dutiful staff member of the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office.

Always the life of the party, a fun-spirited soul who shared her passion for life, Tamiya will be forever missed. Tamiya fought the fight of the bravest warrior, and while her absence is felt in our hearts, Tamiya would want us to find comfort in the promise of eternal life as we read in John 14:1-3: “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Family and friends are welcome to attend Tamiya’s visitation on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 5:00-6:00 p.m., at BTW Funeral Home, and the celebration of life for Tamiya, on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Shumate Street Church of Christ.
