Obituary For Pearline Pickett Howard

Pearline Pickett Howard was born on March 9, 1933 to her parents the late Virgil and Annie Ruth Ham Pickett in Thomas County, Boston, Georgia. She attended Centenary School in the community of Centenary and continued her education at Boston Colored High School.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Centenary Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorship of Rev. Parker, and she was a dedicated worker in the church.

She moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the 1967 and continued her education at OIC Trade School to become a seamstress. In 1968 she united in Holy Matrimony to Robert Howard (deceased) and to that union Alvin Howard and Robert “Peaches” Howard were born. She later returned to Georgia in 1983 where she rejoined the Centenary Church under the Rev. R.L. Gamon and continued to be a faithful member, worker and eventually Mother of the Church until her health failed.

She had three children that preceded her in death. Marvin Pickett (Miami, FL) Ezzard Williams (Philadelphia, PA) and Alvin Howard (Boston, GA). Two brothers PFC Morris Calvin Pickett (Vietnam) and Curtis Pickett (Boston, GA). Three nephews, Donald Cooney (Boston, GA), Dallas Pickett (Savannah, GA) and Roger Gloster (Boston, GA).

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Brenda Postell (Boston, GA) and Roberta “Peaches” Howard (Boston, GA). Four sisters Nora P. Hill (Philadelphia, PA), Geraldin Cooney Gloster (Boston, GA), Allease P. Santos (Savannah, GA) One brother Rev. Mike Pickett (Althoria) (Tallahassee, FL) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She also enjoyed traveling with her family and sitting on the porch on Sunday evenings with her sisters and brother.

Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Pearline Howard will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Centenary Missionary Baptist Church, Boston, Georgia. Burial: Boston Community Cemetery.
