Obituary For O B Griffin

O B Griffin was born on December 10, 1923 to the late Mr. Lonnie Griffin and Mrs. Everlina Griffin in Brooks County, Georgia. He departed this Earthly home on March 6, 2020. O B was the fourth of ten children, eight preceded him in death: Thelma, Gladys, Juanita, Doris, Maelean, Willo, Exie and Wallace.

O B received his education through the Brooks County School System. He joined Rocky Mounty Zion AME Church at an early age. At the age of 16 he went to live with his Aunt Ruby in Atlanta, Georgia, where on July 30, 1942 he joined the U. S. Navy and served until November 7, 1945. After leaving the Navy he settled in New Jersey, where he was employed be Delco Battery and AT&T. He retired in the 1990’s.

O B united in Holy Matrimony to the late Bettye Lois Griffin in March of 1963.

He leaves to cherish his memories, Step-Children, Denise Carter and Dennis Tuggle; Grandchildren, Kevin and Michelle of New Jersey; One Brother, Burton Griffin, Barney GA; Two Sisters-in-law, Doreatha Dasher, Quitman, GA and Nettie Hailes, Washington, D.C., ; One Brother-in-law, Willie Thomas, Barney, GA; A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service for O B Griffin will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the BTW Funeral Services Chapel; Public Viewing, Friday, March 13, 2020: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM; Burial: North End Cemetery, Quitman, Georgia.
