Mr. James Reid, Jr., age 83, of Manson, North Carolina departed this life on Friday, November 3, 2023, at his residence.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 1:00pm in the sanctuary of Oak Level United Church, 5361 Jacksontown Rd. Manson, 27553. The Reverend Perry Sharpe Officiant and Reverend Alma Petteway will deliver the eulogy.
He leaves to cherish his memories: four daughters; Mary Ann Venable, Costello Alston and Mae Anna Reid, and Lucetto Hayes (Maurice), a very special granddaughter who was also one of his caregivers; Roberta Freeman (Thomas) Lana Hayes (Tony) Robert Durham, Jr. (Kenyetta) Monique Bailey (Josh) Wendell Alston, Sabrina Flowers (Casey, Sr.) Barbara Ward (John) and Diane Brown (Ronald) ,fourteen great-grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren; one son in law; Robert Durham,one sister in law; Janice Reid one daughter in law; Betty Wyche, five sisters; Lucyetta Henderson, Ella Bullock (William), Hattie Alexander, Maggie Durham, and Betty Yancey (Connell),two aunts; Hattie Green Bullock, and Naomi Reid, one uncle; Reverand Julius Henderson, special friends; Robert Kamari, Reverand John E. Jefferson and Melvin Townes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a viewing held in the chapel of Boyd & Royster Funeral Services on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 2pm - 5pm.
