Obituary For Cynthia Ann Pounds

Ms. Cynthia Ann Mathis-Pounds of Eatonton, Georgia formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, departed this life on Thursday, June 28, 2024. Cynthia was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 25, 1956 to the late George Mathis and Lucy Burke-Mathis. Cynthia attended Butler-Baker Elementary School in her youth and went on to graduate from Putnam County High School in the Class of 1974.

Cynthia worked various occupations throughout her long life, including Rock Eagle 4-H Center, Putnam County Board of Education, Crawford W. Long Memorial Hospital now Emory Midtown in Atlanta, Georgia, and as a personal home care aide for children with special needs. Cynthia greatly enjoyed decorating, sewing, and traveling. Cynthia was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Cynthia leaves to cherish her memory two children, Anika Jackson and Kalan Pounds; four grandchildren, Aasharia Jackson, Zyhira Jackson, Nyshon Pounds, and Naomi Pounds; brother, George A. Mathis, Jr.; three sisters, Martha J. Walker (Willie), Betty Dunham (Andrew), and Constance Mathis, a close first cousin like a sister, Jossie Burke; other relatives and friends.

Viewing and visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2024, from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. at Bernard's Eatonton
Chapel located at 103 Willie Bailey Street, Eatonton, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held graveside at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Jefferson Baptist Church Cemetery, 495 Harmony Road, Eatonton, Georgia 31024. Reverend Sidney Jackson will officiate the service.
