Arlene ‘Brown’ Butler of Panama City, Florida, transitioned from life to eternal rest on Sunday, February 11, 2024, in Panama City, Florida.
Mother Butler received the gift of life in Ebro, Florida, to the late George Brown and Susie Douglas Brown.
She was united in marriage to the late Chester Butler for forty-five years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Arthur C. Brown, John Milton Brown, Alexander Brown, Lorenzo Brown, Clarence Brown, Henry Smith, and Bass Smith, and seven sisters, Rebecca Brown, Vinna Peterson, Irene Reed, Vera Hicks, Larcenia Faison, Ruby Lee Strickland, and Hilda Mae ‘Middleton’ Burns.
She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory: her loving son, Charlie James Smith (Rosemarie); sons, Charles Green (Daisey) of Thonotosassa, FL, Chester Butler, Jr. (Irma), of Miami, FL, and Larry Butler (Rose) of Miami, FL; daughters, Bertha Myers (Steve) of Ocala, FL, and Virginia Blevins (Keith) of Miami, FL; brothers, Leonard Brown (Phyllis), Willie James Smith (Geraldine), and Willie Brown (Betty); sister, Vida Mae Campbell (John); four grandchildren, Desmond Smith (Elfrida), Deana Smith, Lydell Smith (Victoria), and Jorrell Smith; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Homegoing Celebration Services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at The New Beginnings Assembly of the Saints Church on Cone Avenue in Panama City with Bishop Lonnie Mitchell, Sr., Bishop Walter Henry, Elder Carlos Thomas, and Bishop Randy Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Redwood Cemetery with services entrusted to the caring staff of Battle Mortuary of Panama City, FL.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Battle Mortuary from 3 to 6 p.m.
