Benita Denise German Taylor was born on December 2, 1968 to Leo German Sr. and the late Juanita Johnson German. She peacefully departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at her home in Kinston, North Carolina. Benita attended the public schools in the town of Latta, South Carolina where she demonstrated her athletic ability in softball and basketball. She graduated from Latta High School in 1988 and later decided to further her education by attending Chris Logan Cosmetology School. Although Benita was a jack of all trades, she grew very fond of her career as a Certified Hemo Dialysis Technician. Through this career she was able to impact the lives of many patients in Nevada, Louisiana and North Carolina.
Benita confessed and received the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age, and joined St. Paul AME Church with her family. In her adult years and after marrying Cliff Taylor, Benita joined Bright Light Apostolic Church in Sellers, South Carolina. She sang on the choir at Bright Light for many years.
Benita was affectionately known as “Ms. Actor” because of her ability to put on a good show at any random moment. She adored bringing the family together to sing, laugh, eat, play cards, and reminisce on childhood memories. Benita was the family publicist, telling all the secrets and surprises…especially when she was told to not to tell it. In her free time she loved watching the Food Network and Sports (Dallas Cowboys, USC Gamecock Football, NC Tarheel Basketball, and any type of softball game).
She leaves to cherish fond memories and to carry her torch ~ her husband of eighteen years: Cliff Taylor; her children: Keaundra DeBerry, Myron DeBerry II, Jared Morgan, Keaunte Johnson and Kanijah Taylor; her grandchildren: Aamiyah Lamb, Christopher Bynum, Keaundre Bynum and Layna Morgan; her great-grandson: Aamarion Burgess; her siblings: Rogeena Thompson of Atlanta, GA, Tina Birch of Floydale, SC, Leo German Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Lamont (Anika) German of Plains, PA, Felicia Henson of Latta, SC and Chris (Jessica) German of Latta, SC; her mother-n-law: Catherine (Ronald) Foxworth; father-n-law: Samuel (Carmen) Taylor; two sisters-n-law: Shea Taylor and Ka’Mya Foxworth; grandparents-n-law: Bishop Freeman (Mae Ola) McLeod; aunts and uncles: Harriet Jones, Gwendolyn (Ben) Strickland, Christine (Ricky) Brown, and Lawton (Wilhelmina) German, Dorothy Wheeler, Francis Davis, Bill (Earnestine) Davis, Ann Grice, one god-child: Bria Johnson and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and close Friends.
