Mr. Maurice DeVon Taylor, whom many also called "Moochie", was born May 13, 1970, in Orange County, North Carolina. He transitioned peacefully from this earthly realm to eternal peace on November 7, 2023, with his fiancée Kimberly Matricialyn Kirkland by his side.
He was a God fearing man, whose faith was strong. When he began his transition, he told his fiancée that he was at peace. He was a simple, frugal and creative young man, who loved working with his hands. He was also an adventurous young man, who loved spending time with his kids, camping, fishing and traveling. He graduated from Chapel Hill High, and then eventually earned his degree for Professional Truck Driving, which he did for almost 30 years. He had many trades throughout his life before deciding to join the United States Army in 2007; he served out the unit in Garner, NC, in both active and reserve roles. He completed active duty in Afghanistan from 12/2011 through 11/2012; he received several medals of honor for his service. He retired in 2015 with an honorable discharge.
He leaves to cherish his memories his children Makyla Taylor of Durham, NC; Deja Bates of Burlington, NC; Isaiah Taylor of Sanford, NC; his mother Edna Faye Taylor of Carrboro, NC; his fiancée Kimberly Kirkland of Raleigh, NC: his brother Michael (Christina) Taylor of Raleigh, NC; his brother Lamont Fearrington of Pittsboro; his sister Kimetha (Rodney) Hughes of Greensboro; his brother Waymond (Moe) Ingram of Chapel Hill, NC; his brother Rodney (Sheila) Ingram of Phoenix, AZ; his sister Michelle Fearrington of Marietta, GA; his brother Creighton Fearrington of Atlanta, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
3 months...Gone too soon but not forgotten. Your love and memories will forever be in my heart ❤️ Each day, I never know when I wake up how you not being here will impact my day, but I know that you are in a better place and smiling down on me 🙏🏾. Love always and forever, Kimberly 💖
Moochie. I grew up with you as the best next door neighbor. Even to this day, even though we both moved away from Carrboro, when I would come home to see my mom and I saw your car, I was always so excited. I will always remember you hiding and making weird noises to get our attention. You always had the biggest smile and the happiest laugh. I was glad to hear your mom said you passed with a smile on your face. That is truly how I will always remember you. I never recall you being mad, ever. I hope everyone else has this same picture of you. I hope you rest easy. You will be truly missed. Much love, Amber
Thank you my brother for touching my life and challenging me to see the world from a different perspective. Your light especially in the dark times is a lesson to me to push to be better. You fought the good fight, now you can rest in the arms of our Lord. You will never be forgotten. ❤️
Condolences to your family and friends. You were a very happy child and young man. My friend, Edna Faye, I send you love and uplifting prayers. Carolean Craig
Nice going kid, I knew it was in you, a warrior of warriors, you took that big step to prove you are a man, a man of no fear, sadly it ended your life too fast, to soon, unfortunately it effected the heart of your family and friends, who looks up to you, as stepped unto that battlefield, it overwhelmed them, but you knew what you had to do what you had to do, nice going!!.. This is Richie, I hope you still remember who I am, long time no see, a brave man in our hearts. Even though itsw been awhile, we will miss you. God Bless!!.. Richie,,
Maurice I know that you are resting in peace and I believe that God our Father is so pleased with your earthly life. I read a card that truly reminded me of you: GOD Works Through You In Beautiful Ways: He's always putting you right where He needs you. And you're always doing what He needs you to do. He gives you strength, and you reach out to help those who need a hand. He gives you love, and you bless others with your caring heart. Best of all, He's given you and your friendship to me. And that's the most beautiful blessing anyone could ask for.
Thanks For All Your Helpful Ways
