Obituary For Carolyn T. Cheek

Carolyn T. Cheek, of Butner, NC died suddenly on December 22, 2023 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham. She was born in Orange County to Robert Colon and Manor Hargrove Thompson. She was a longtime member of Community Methodist Church and retired from the Psychiatry Associates of Chapel Hill in 1999. Carolyn Loved her family, church family and her community. She actively served and dedicated many hours to helping her community in many creative and innovative ways, serving on multiple committees such as Beautification, Juvenile Crime Preventative Committee, Crime Stoppers, Butner Citizens Planning Ahead (BCPA) and served as a faithful member on the Butner Church Council.

Carolyn is survived by son Bill (Judy) Cheek, daughter Mary (Tony) Pernell, 9 loving grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Brother: Bobby Thompson of Mooresville, NC, and many nieces, and nephews she loved dearly and a friend to everyone.

She was preceded in death by both parents, husband Robert F. Cheek and daughter Cecilia Cheek Harris.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00PM, Saturday, January 6th at the Community Methodist Church, 409 West E St. Butner, NC with Pastor Norma Roberts officiating. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. prior to the service, reception immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Community Methodist Church in her name 409 West E St Butner, NC.
