A Memorial Service for Ms. Devin Graves will be on Friday, January 13, 2023, 3:00 PM in Elizabeth's Chapel of Alfonso Dawson Mortuary.
THE TRUTH OF WHO SHE IS
Devin Renee Graves was born to Sandy Regina Weston-Graves and Brian Xavier Graves on December 31, 1990, in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Dutchtown High School, Hampton, Georgia, June 2009.
She grew up in Riverdale and Stockbridge, GA where she attended Oliver Elementary School and Eagles Landing Middle School in Stockbridge, GA. While at middle school, Devin was captain of their very first step team. Under Devin’s leadership, they won several team competitions and one championship.
In high school, Devin was a member of the debate team and on the National Honor Society. Her aptitude for learning and willingness to help others was recognized by her teachers and she was selected to tutor her classmates in English and Mathematics throughout high school. She graduated in 2009.
In 2009-2011, she attended Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga where she majored in multi-media technology and met her former husband, Byron Williams. From that union, Laila Gisselle Williams was born August 26, 2013, where they lived in McDonough, GA.
Devin was a loyal hard worker and made a positive impression wherever she was employed. In 2016, she obtained her certification as a pharmacy technician where she became employed by CVS Pharmacy, Jonesboro, GA, Moye’s Pharmacy, Locust Grove, GA, and Aids Atlanta, Atlanta, GA.
On September 5, 2021, Devin was blessed with her son Leonidas Xavier Graves.
Her last work assignment, October 2022, was with Elevance Health in Atlanta, GA. She worked in the Pharmacy department of the IngenioRX division. In that position, she approved customer prescriptions and assisted with software training of new employees. In a short period of time, her significant contributions at “IngenioRX were recognized by both management and team as being one of their fast-track employees.
Devin possessed many gifts, such as a passion for gourmet cooking and catering, and had hoped to obtain her own food truck. She also was known to many for her services in hair care. Another ambition of hers was to invest in real estate and international travel with her children…first stop Bali, Indonesia.
She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter Laila G. Williams and son Leonidas Xavier Graves, her father Brian X. Graves, mother Sandy Weston-Graves, sister Courtney Weston and grandmother, Jean Weston both of Seneca, SC.
Aunts: Teresa L. Graves, Atlanta, GA, Deniese (Sherman) Graves, Debbie Weston-Caldwell (James) Covington, GA, Evangelist Monica Patton, Snellville, GA, Thelma Weston-Quick (Rodney) Seneca, SC, and Karen Weston-Williams (Stanley) Seneca, SC.
Uncles: David Weston Brooklyn, NY, Harry Weston (Isis) Seneca, SC, Chris Weston Seneca, SC, and Brandon Weston (Jill), Bangkok, Thailand.
Devin’s Godparents: Vanessa Calhoun (Floyd), Snellville. GA.
Numerous cousins, great aunts and great uncles and many friends.
Extended Family: Shun Manning, James and Renee Jones, Bryan and Shakeenah Williams.
Her loving best friends, Lawrence (Smoke) Broughton, Candice Conner, London White, Julia Danner, and Latrice Johnson.
Preceded in death are grandparents: Sherman C. Graves II & Dorothy L. Graves. Harry M. Weston. Uncles: Sherman Graves,III. Steven Graves. Aunt: Michelle Weston Williams.
Thanks for all the love and favor Babe! It was my pleasure to grow close and experience your love ! Thanks for giving me another family . And thank you for plowing me to be a friend while I could ! Rest up Devi .
