Clyde was a most honorable man. During our time together at DHS/DFCS he was a great support. We enjoyed conversations on the Dawgs football team and family. He will be missed. Ron Scroggy

My deepest condolences go out to the family of Judge Reese. I first met Judge Reese as a student at Mercer Law School. I had the pleasure of hearing Judge Reese speak at an event for the Black Law Students Association. After his speech, I approached him to thank him for giving such an encouraging message. While I thought that would be the end out it, it was not. Judge Reese proceeded to ask me about myself. We soon discovered that though years apart in age, we had a few things in common. I was a "non-traditional" law student who had a young child at home, and I traveled from Atlanta to Macon on a daily basis.

Judge Reese took the time to encourage me to stick it out and let my law school experience be an example to my daughter; that hard work and determination are integral to success. I found his words timely and uplifting. After that evening, Judge Reese and I would make sure that we spoke anytime that he was on campus. He was always willing to offer me sage advice and a heartening word.

I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to get to know and learn from Judge Reese. Again, my deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. I pray that the Lord gives you comfort and peace.

My condolences and prayers to Clyde's family. Clyde will be missed by all he knew and met. I had the honor of meeting Clyde in DCH. So glad he was part of the agency. A wonderful friend. Always happy to see you. He never met a stranger and very kind. I met up with him again about 6 years ago at 2 Peachtree Street at a another state agency. Again, always happy to see you. Judge Reese took an unusual path to the bench, having worked for more than a decade with his family's real estate firm before coming to Mercer Law School, where I got to know and admire him. As a so-called non-traditional student (one with real-life experience), Clyde distinguished himself as quietly carrying a kind, gentle, sage sort of wisdom, unusual for someone in his early thirties. He went on to work in community health for the state of Georgia at a difficult time, when the major healthcare providers were consolidating and the rural areas were losing facilities and practitioners. His repeated appointments to the position of Commissioner of the Department of Community Health were welcomed by the people serving in and served by that department. His appointment to the appellate bench by Governor Deal was unusual because Clyde's resume did not exactly mimic the type typically getting to the governor's desk. Deal's appointment of Judge Reese proved to have been a good one based on Reese's thoughtful, judicious, hard-working approach to his job in the robes. Judge Reese was a truly unusual individual who gave a lot of himself to public service, for which this member of the public is deeply appreciative. I will miss him, as will any who knew him personally. He was a gem.

To the Reese Family, I offer my heartfelt sympathy. I met Clyde in 1996 while working at SHPA. He was a calm and guiding force for all who knew him. I was honored to be in private law practice with him for several years. I have many fond memories of Clyde Reese, but I'll only share a couple. Clyde was a great public servant and colleague whom I first met when he worked for the GA State Health Planning Agency (SHPA). He was a true professional and a hard worker, dedicated to his craft. I never forgot my interactions with him at SHPA and later at the Department of Community Health (DCH). So I was extremely pleased when Clyde agreed to work as in house General Counsel during my tenure at DCH. It also was great talking sports with Clyde. For a handful of seasons we shared season tickets for the Atlanta Hawks, and he was always gracious enough to talk Auburn sports with me, although I knew he loved UGA. Such a gentleman and a great friend who I'm missing already. Rest in heaven my friend, and I pray for comfort, peace and strength for your family.

The world was a better place for having the wisdom of Judge/Commissioner Reese in it. As a very "green" manager at DCH, he was a mentor and model to and for me. I am humbled to have known him and so saddened by his passing much too early. My most heartfelt prayers to his entire family and circle of friends. May his memory be a blessing.

I had the pleasure of meeting him in my small section while in law school, and remaining friends with him for almost 30 years. Although at times he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes. I had the pleasure of working with Judge Reese for the past 6 years, three of which we served together on a panel. At the end of each panel year, he would give the other two panel members a gift. My first was a Florida Gator sweatshirt because he knew I loved the Gators and the second was a Mercer Bear t-shirt, our law school alma mater. The next gift would have arrived some time after March 16 and I will always wonder what it might have been. But I know it would have been thoughtful and I would have loved it.
