Obituary For Mrs. Debra D. Johnson Fredrick

Funeral services for Mrs. Debra D. Johnson Fredrick, 63, of 294 Kinard Street, Orangeburg, SC will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Olive Grove Baptist Church, 305 Old Elloree Road, Orangeburg, SC, with interment to follow at St. Stephens United Methodist Church cemetery. The Reverend H.T. Gainey, Jr. and Reverend Frank James are officiating.

Debra D. Johnson Fredrick, the daughter of Ruthel and the late Joseph L. Johnson, was born May 9, 1956.

She gained her wings on September 16, 2019 at The Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, SC.

Debra was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County and was a 1973 graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. After high school, Debra matriculated to South Carolina State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Individual and Family Development.

Debra was employed by the Orangeburg Department of Social Services as a case worker, a bus driver with Orangeburg Consolidated School District five, and a financial aid counselor at South Carolina State University.

Debra was a member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church where she was a part of the United Methodist Women, was a Lay Speaker, and a member of the Inspirational Choir.

Debra was also a devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Debra was preceded in death by her father, Joseph L. Johnson; sister, Tina Johnson McDowell; step-daughter, Saneakia M. Green; maternal grandmother, Lucile S. Hampton; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Clotel Johnson; her father and mother-in-law, John and Jessie Mae Fredrick; sister-in-law, Mary F. Preston; and brother-in-law, John Fredrick, Jr.

Debra leaves to cherish loving memories: her husband, Theodore Fredrick of Orangeburg, SC; two sons: Devon Fredrick and Travis Fredrick both Orangeburg, SC; two step-sons: Demetric T. Greene and Alton J. Hair both of St. Matthews, SC; step-daughter, Tywasha (Marcus) Jeffcoat of St. Matthews, SC; her mother, Ruthel Johnson of Orangeburg, SC; two brothers: Edward (Annette) Johnson of Orangeburg, SC and Allen Johnson of Atlanta, GA; two sisters: Ruthene Johnson of Beaufort, SC and Monica Aiken of Orangeburg, SC; 13 step-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Debbie F. Palmer and Margret (Jerome) Wigfall both of St. Matthews, SC and Angela Disher of Orangeburg, SC; three brothers-in-law: Issac Fredrick, Donald Fredrick, and Peter Fredrick all of St. Matthews, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Fredrick will be placed in the church one hour prior to service.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Delta Sigma Theta Omega Omega service to be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory of Orangeburg.

Family and friends may call at the residence of her husband, Mr. Theodore Fredrick, 294 Kinard Street, Orangeburg or Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory of Orangeburg.
