Burial will be in Collins Cemetery, Madison, NC . The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Shaun Durand Oliver was born to James “Danny” Kellam (Wanda) and Stella Oliver on Friday, June 8, 1979. He stepped into eternity on Saturday, June 29, 2019. Shaun was educated in Rockingham County Schools, graduating from Morehead High School. While in high school, he participated in several sports and achieved an All-State Wrestling Award. After high school, Shaun enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Great Lakes, Illinois. After receiving an honorable medical discharge, he returned to civilian life and pursued vocational training where he obtained his Commercial Driving License. He quickly utilized his skills in his employment at the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the City of Eden. Shaun was a very introverted, soft-spoken, calm and humble man. He had an “old soul” personality and could knowledgably discuss any topic brought before him. He was very “tech” savvy, as he was often called upon, by family and friends, to program mobile phones, TVs, DVD’s, computers and other electronics. He was an avid gamer and he mastered high scores on the many video games he owned. He had an infectious smile and the most selfless heart. Even in his demise, he wanted others to thrive and live, as he was an organ donor. Shaun was baptized at an early age and was attending Refuge Temple Ministries in Martinsville, Virginia. Shaun was preceded in death by two sisters, Courtney Kellam and Ashley Kellam; his maternal grandparents, Floyd and Sally Oliver; his paternal great-grandmother, Pauline Martin. In addition to his parents, Shaun leaves to cherish his memory: his paternal grandparents, Dock and Doris Kellam; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; special friends from childhood to adulthood- Quentin Hayes, Carlos Malloy, Marcus Vernon, Chris Wall, and Justin Welch; his special friend, Beverly Yellock; a host of friends; and his dog, Brownie.

Shaun and I talked about video games and computers every time our paths crossed. He was smart, funny, and a pleasure to talk with. He will be missed. Your family is in our prayers. Kevin Taylor, Director of IT, City of Eden.
