INTERMENT: Church Cemetery DEACONESS FANNIE WALKER MOORE, daughter of the late Haywood H. Walker and the late Harriette Isabell Walker, was born December 30, 1937 in LaCrosse, VA and departed this life May 27, 2019 in VCU-Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shanice.

At an early age she was baptized and joined First Baptist Church, LaCrosse, VA where she was a faithful member and served in many capacities of the church, namely Deaconess, President of the Missionaries, President of the Pastor’s Aide and Musician for the church for over 55 years. She also served as Musician for Union RZUA Church for over 35 years and attended Sunday School.

Fannie was married to the late Floyd A. Moore, Sr. on August 16, 1960 and to this union four children were born.

In her earlier years she sang with the Walker Sisters, traveling all over to different churches and places singing God praises. She also served as Musician for Greens Chapel RZUA and Bethel Memorial RZUA Churches. Fannie also was a substitute pianist for Pleasant Hill RZUA Church. She answered the call whenever a church needed a musician, she would fill in.

Fannie worked at Sparkles, Brown’s Café and lastly at LaCrosse Laundry and Dry Cleaners as a presser for many years until her retirement.

In her spare time she enjoyed singing, cooking, watching TV, listening to her Gospel tapes and of course talking on the telephone.

Fannie leaves to cherish three daughters- Margaret (Lowell) Palmer, Alberta, VA; Marjie B. Moore, Gary, WV, and Eleanor Moore, Ebony, VA; one son- Floyd (Yolanda) Moore, Jr., Dolphin, VA; devoted Grandson- Vincent Sallie and 15 other grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters- Sophia Prince, Landover, MD; Catherine Johnson, Camp Springs, MD, and Alice (David) Jones, Brodnax, VA; four brothers- Haywood Walker, Jr., Prince George County, MD; Charlie (Sophia) Walker, Camp Springs, MD; Clyde (Dorothy) Walker, South Hill, VA and Virginius (Alice) Walker, Brodnax, VA; five sisters-in-law, Annie Simmons, Ethel Lee Johnson, Clara Smith, Emma Staples, and Magalene Walker; devoted caregivers- Vickie, Annette, Luvenia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
