Obituary For Raymond L. Staples, Jr.

Raymond L. Staples, Jr., 85, of Idle Wild Dr., Fieldale, Va., passed away Saturday, May 18,2019 at SOVAH Health Martinsville. He was born May 26,1933 in Henry County, Va., to the late Raymond Staples, Sr. and the late Caroline Cahill Staples. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Shreiff Hodge; three brothers, Benjamin, Robert, and William Staples; and two sisters, Bernice Gray and Amanda Green.

Raymond is survived by his wife of the home, Barbara H. Staples; children, Khalil Shadeed (Monika) , Hugh Staples (Adrienne), Cordia Al-Quhhar,Lucinda Chavis, Thebra Shabazz (James), Victor Staples (Chanan), Nasser Staples (Meloni), Aaron Staples (Hajer), Yassien Vasquez (Armando), Margary Scales (Gerald), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was a member of Martinsville/ Henry County Islamic Center and owned Staples Electrical Company. Raymond was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from Stone Container after 34 years of service.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 3 p.m. at The C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, Martinsville, VA, with Imam Muhammad Ali Zaghab, Officiating. The family will receive friends at the home, 156 Idle Wild Dr. Apt. B9, Fieldale, Va.

Burial will follow in Staples Family Cemetery, Fieldale, VA.
