It is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of Ms. Janice Gordon,59,of 1257 Murdaugh Street, Gifford, South Carolina.
Ms. Gordon passed away Friday, November 16, 2018, in Allendale County.
Services were held Friday, November 23, 2018, 1:00 P.M. at Allendale - Fairfax High School, Fairfax, South Carolina. Pastor Marcel Smith, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Grounder Cemetery, Gifford, South Carolina.
Calling Hours were held Thursday, November 22, 2018, 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M., with a wake service from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at M. F. Riley Sr. Memorial Chapel, Fairfax, South Carolina.
Family and friends are gathering at the home of her mother, Mrs. Cora Gordon, 123 Bing Street, Allendale, South Carolina.

Janice Gordon was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Cora Williams Gordon and the late Benjamin Gordon Sr.
Her faith and belief in God was expressed at an early age when she was baptized and became a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Gifford, South Carolina. Janice was faithful to her church serving in many capacities to include: the combined choirs of Mt. Zion and Second Baptist Church, and Mt. Zion Missionary Ministry.
Janice matriculated through Allendale Count Public Schools. After graduation she attended Morris College, Sumter, South Carolina receiving a Bachelor of Science. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree, she later further her studies at Cambridge College, receiving a Master's of Education Degree. Her wisdom and love for children inspired her to enroll in Bank Street College of Education in New York, where she received a Master's in Educational Leadership. She also received a degree in Theology from New Life School of Theology, Allendale, South Carolina. Janice completed one year towards her doctorate degree in educational administration.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Dwight Robertson.
During Janice's tenure as an Educator she wore many tassels on her cap. She was affiliated with Delta Sigma Theta, Allendale County Educators Association, Gifford Rosenwald Reunion Committee, and Hampton County Red Cross.
Janice love for family was a passion and her personality was like no other. She was a person whom you were happy to see, and you may become sadden when it was time to depart from her. She always had a smile and a kind word to say. She wanted those in her presence to feel special. Teaching her love ones to always high no matter what. Janice loved teaching her family the three R's (reading, writing, and arithmetic). She was fascinated with crocheting, dancing, cooking, fashion, make - up, interior decorating, event planning, and being he mistress of ceremony at events.
On Friday, November 16, 2018 Janice transitioned from earth to eternity holding to God's unchanging hands.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by one brother: Freddie Williams, Maternal grandparents: Richard and Orphelia Williams, Paternal grandparents: Leroy and Annie Gordon, and Mary Frazier.
Cherishing her fond memories: Loving Mother: Cora Williams Gordon, Allendale, SC; Two Brothers: John EW (Teresa) Williams, Brooklyn, NY, and Benjamin Gordon Jr. (Patricia Devoe), Maryland. One Sister: Tammy Gordon, Allendale, SC; Two God Sons: Jamal Davis (Teresa), Sycamore, SC; and Evan Anderson, Philadelphia, PA; Two Goddaughters: Shatissany Dunbar, Jacksonville, FL; and Katrina Ferguson, Newport News, VA; Five Aunts: Ella Gordon, Estill, SC; Leola Gordon, Nixville, SC, Ophelia Sanders, Florence Ferguson and Eva Gaffney all of Brooklyn, NY; One cousin she called her brother: Fred Williams. Two Pets: Benny and Precious whom she nourished and adored until her calling. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
