Funeral service for Bobby Yancy, 74, of Auburn, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2025, at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, 4881 US Highway 29 South, Auburn, AL, 36830 with interment in the Church Cemetery, Reverend Thomas Brown will officiate.

Mr. Yancy, who passed away Friday, April 18, 2025 at his home in Auburn, Alabama, was born January 21, 1951, in Macon County, Alabama.

Bobby was a J.F. Drake High School 1969 graduate. After graduation he began working at Ampex Data Systems Corporation in Opelika, AL. He later began working at Auburn Electric Co. now known as Auburn Electrical Construction Co. Inc. (AECCI), where he was afforded the opportunity to attend Opelika Technical College now known as Southern Union State Community College and earned a certification in Electrical Technology. He faithfully worked at AECCI for forty-five years plus until his health declined. In his time at AECCI, he mentored and nurtured the growth of many young electricians who affectionally called him “Mr. Bobby.”

Public viewing will be Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 pm.

Mr. Yancy will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

Memories of his precious life will be cherished by: a devoted, nurturing and loving wife of 21 years, Linder Yancy of Auburn, AL; three children, Anton Yancy of Auburn, AL, Tamara Yancy of Huntsville, AL and Heaven Leigh Brady-Yancy of Montgomery, AL; one grandson, Carson Yancy of Auburn, AL; one bonus child, Darius Jaron Yancy; two brothers, Clinton (Ester) Yancy of Crawford, AL and Albert Yancy of Columbus, GA; five step-children, Merrell Warren of Auburn, AL, Conteh (Roshica) Warren of Auburn, AL, Zelenka (Fredrick) Lewis of Hampton, GA, Douglas (Princess) Heard of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Brittany Heard of Atlanta, GA; four brothers-in-law, George Warren, Alvin (Lashander) Warren, James (Tracy) Warren all of Auburn, AL and Willie (Evette) Baker of Knoxville, TN; four sisters-in-law, Constance (Carl) Floyd of Opelika, AL, Gloria Harper of Tuskegee, AL, Heneritta (James) Duffie of Crawford, AL and Virginia Hollis of Alcoa, TN; seventeen step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
