Mrs. Addie Mae Farrow Terry

Passed 03/25/2025

Addie Farrow Terry was born in Wadesboro, NC on March 27, 1934. She was the first of seven children born to Bertha Duran and Jerome PeeGeau Farrow.

Addie was baptized and joined Cedar Creek Baptist Church as a child. She practiced her Christian faith by attending Sunday School and church services, singing in the junior choir, representing the Church as a youth delegate, and participating in other church activities.

Addie attended Anson County public schools and graduated with honors as salutatorian of her class from Deep Creek High School on May the 15th, 1952.

Immediately following graduation, she left for Hackensack, New Jersey. In 1954, Addie married Clifford Terry. From this union, two sons were born: Clifford Joseph and Bret Andrew.

She joined the Mount Zion Baptist Church and was active in the New Members Club and Young Mothers Club. In 1960, the family moved to Englewood, New Jersey. There, she joined Community Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until 1975. That year, the family moved to Sterling Heights, Michigan. Along with her husband, Clifford, they joined the Church of Our Father Baptist in Detroit, Michigan.

In 1976, Addie returned to the classroom and earned an associate degree from Macomb College in 1979. From there, she enrolled at Oakland University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in science. In 1985, she completed her graduate studies for Emotionally Impaired Students (EMI) at Wayne State University.

In the fall of 1985, she was employed by the Mount Clemens schools and taught until 2002. In 2002, the family moved to Charlotte, NC. Although Addie left North Carolina at an early age, Cedar Creek Baptist Church always remained a special place in her heart. Shortly after moving to Charlotte, she rejoined Cedar Creek. It was here that she desired to be laid to rest.

In loving memory, she leaves her loving husband, two sons, one grandson, one brother, five nieces, six nephews, and a host of cousins, and friends.

The Homegoing Services will be on Sunday, March 30, 2025, 1:00pm, Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow the service in the family plot of the Church Cemetery.
