Mr. Bobby Freeman, Jr., also known as “Purple Haze”, 52, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in Indianapolis. Bobby Jr. was born in Shelby, NC, on January 16, 1973, to Dorothy Jackson Freeman and the late Bobby Freeman, Sr.
Bobby Jr. attended Cleveland Community College. He was a skilled landscaper at BrightView Landscaping.
Bobby had a unique personality, kind heart, and an outgoing nature. He enjoyed making people laugh and left a lasting impression on those who knew him. He was always the life of the party. He loved to sing and dance, although--he couldn’t do either. He loved riding his motorcycle. Now that was something he could really do!!! He was a loyal member of Naptown Riders and called himself a Napslinger. He also loved his family, the highway, his club, and his job.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Freeman; maternal grandparents, Theron Jackson and Christine McCombs Jackson; paternal grandparents, Rosevelt Freeman and Lena Bell Greene Freeman.
He is survived by his wife, Tanieca Freeman of Indianapolis, IN; mother, Dorothy Jackson of Charlotte, NC; step-father, Larry Hamilton (Kim); a son, Bobby Alexander Freeman of Columbus, OH; daughters, Kyla Gooch of Columbus, OH and Chasity Freeman (April) of Brentwood, CA; step daughters, Kiey’chia Fields and Keyara Majeed of Grand Rapids, MI; brother, Rodney “Rico” Freeman (Monica) of Fayetteville, NC; sisters, Barbara Ann Freeman and Tonya Murray of Forest City, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; his Naptown Riders family; Gunslinger Family; and BrightView Landscape family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Bethel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2 p.m. Come in casual dress. Burial will take place at Freeman’s Cemetery, 1521 Bostic Road, Bostic, NC. The family will be meeting at 1512 Hudson Graham Lane in Charlotte, NC.
