Mildred Webster Hairston, 89 of Walnut Cove, NC passed Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Public viewing will be Monday, March 17, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m - 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, Walnut Cove, NC with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Walnut Cove, NC.
Mildred Elaine Webster Hairston, 88 of Walnut Cove, NC transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Walnut Cove Health Care. She was born in Stokes County to the late Clara Kellam Tatum and Alfonso Webster. She attended school in Rockingham County and graduated from Laura Mae Forta school of Cosmetology in Winston Salem, NC in 1969. Mildred was a retired entrepreneur owning her own businesses as a beautician, Avon consultant and her most famous business cooking and selling chitterlings to her neighbors; affectionately known as the “Chitlin Lady”.
Sister Mildred was a faithful member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church of Walnut Cove, NC for many years. She faithfully served as Deaconess and the Missionary Board and many other capacities both and seen and unseen.
Sister Mildred was blessed to have had the opportunity to travel to many places with her beloved husband, Willie. Mildred was a constant joy; even in her darkest days when her health began to decline, she had a smile on her face and made everyone laugh.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Roosevelt (Red) Hairston.
She is survived by one son, Minister Gerry A. Hairston (Jacqueline) of Winston Salem, NC. Two grandchildren; Brian S. Mitchell (Carrie) of Walnut Cove, NC and Kineta Parham of Winston Salem, NC. Three great grandchildren, Jhaiyana Johns of Winston Salem, NC, Bryce Hairston of Walnut Cove, NC and Samaria Lowe of Taylorsville, NC. One great-great grandson, Josiah Thomas of Winston Salem, NC, two special godchildren; Nigel McEachern of Columbus, GA and Camile McEachern of Greensboro, NC. A devoted aunt, Naomi Cross, formerly of New York, who is currently residing in Walnut Cove, NC. Mildred and Naomi shared an undying love and affection for one another and will be forever cherished. She is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
