Ernest Coleman, 72, passed on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 in Smiths, AL.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bishop Billy Avery, officiating. Burial to follow in the Charnel Garden of Rest located at 5230 Lee Rd 240, Phenix City, AL. Public viewing is 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Ernest Coleman, 72, of Smiths, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Sue Jean
Coleman, and his brother, Alphonso Coleman. Ernest was born on January 17, 1953, in Salem, Alabama. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Greater Bethelpore Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Smiths Station High School, Class of 1971, and worked as a commercial truck driver for over twenty-five years. Ernest was affectionately known for his quick wit and generous heart. He enjoyed working outdoors, fishing, carpentry, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by two loving daughters, Schelcy Allen (Ronnie) of Phenix City, Alabama, and Sanquita Moore (Bobby) of Smiths, Alabama; three grand- daughters, Hannah Allen, Grace Allen, and Mina Mae Moore; a devoted and loving brother and sister-in-law Johnny McCoy (Rosie Pearl) of Smiths, Alabama; two loving sisters, Linda Powell and Janice Avery (Billy), both of Valley, Alabama; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.
