On March 8, 1941, the world was blessed with the birth of Johnnie Mae Hill, affectionately known as “Ms. Hill,” to the late Mr. Moses Evans Sr. and Ms. Ruth Evans. A product of the Worth County School System, she graduated with the Class of 1960 from J.W. Holley High School. Johnnie Mae’s pursuit of knowledge continued as she attended Albany State College for several years.

At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal savior and became a faithful member of New Beulah Grove Baptist Church, where she later became a devoted member of the usher board.

Johnnie Mae’s life journey was further blessed when she was united in marriage to Calvin Hill. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Yolanda and Stephanie, who were the light of her life.

On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, God sent an angel to bring home the spirit of His servant, Johnnie Mae Hill, to join the eternal ranks of the immortal. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mattie Smith and Mary E. Whidby; and her brothers, Moses Evans Sr. and James Evans.
