The funeral services for the late Mr. Robert Walker, who departed this life on Monday, February 3, 2025, will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. from the New Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. Reverend Dr. Marvin Brown, Pastor, will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Shingler, Georgia. Today, we gather to celebrate the life of a loving husband, our father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend… a life that began on the Seventh Day of June Nineteen Hundred Forty. Robert Walker was born to the late John T. Walker and Essie Lou Stewart in Ashburn, Georgia.
Upon his return back to Ashburn, Georgia, he joined New Providence Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Revered, Dr. Marvin Brown. Robert loved to sing in the choir!
The seeds of learning were planted early in his life through the education he received as a product of the Turner County School System. He was a proud student of Eureka High School. Upon the completion of High School, he moved to Miami, Florida. He attended vocational school in Orlando, Florida and received a certificate in Business.
Upon his employment with National Car Rental in Fort Lauderdale airport for 46 years enabled him to provide leadership in various capacities and to touch the lives of many. As a result of his active involvement with others, valuable lifelong friendships were made. He has always helped those in need.
August 30, 1969, Robert united in holy matrimony to Mildred Troutman-Walker.
On Monday, February 3, 2025, Robert transition to his heavenly home in peace. He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. Walker and Essie Lou Stewart, his siblings,John Walker, Calvin Walker, Barbara Walker, Glenda Walker, Edward Walker, brothers-in-law Clifford Troutman, Rev. Sanders Troutman (Elizabeth), Bishop Tommy-Lee Troutman(Brenda), a sister-in-law Jerelean Thornton (Nathaniel), and one of his best friends Charles Johnson (Mary).
Robert is survived by: his cherish and loving wife Mildred Troutman-Walker; his children Reginald Walker, Melvin Burroughs, Lisa Walker-Smith (Timothy), Kenya Rolle (like a daughter); 4 special grandchildren, Reginald Walker, La’Kayla Walker, Tiffany Wise, Achilles Walker; 2 great-grandchildren, 3 godchildren, siblings Verlene Smith, Bettie Grant, Willie-Frank Walker(Alice), Jacqueline Bell(Joseph), Felton Walker(Annie), Eloise Walker-Tiller, Gail Greene(Phillip), Darrin Middle-Brooks(Gwen), Jerry Tift(Dean); brothers-in-law, Lucious Troutman, Johnny Troutman, Gary Troutman; sisters-in-law, Margaret Jackson (Ted), Fredericka Chapell; one of his favorite cousins Millie Bell Williams; best friends Mickinley Smith(Lodis), Authur Walker (Josephine); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
