Timothy Peyton

Passed 01/25/2025

Timothy Peyton was born to the late John Henry Peyton, II and Elizabeth Ann Stone Peyton. He joined Trinity Baptist Church in his young adult years under the leadership of Rev. A. Lincoln James, Jr.

Timothy was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Brenda Lewis Peyton, oldest brother John H. Peyton, III, and sister, Andrea Peyton Sharpe. Surviving are his brother, Donald Peyton, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. To include great cousins on the Peyton and Morton sides, love them dearly.

After completing Richmond Public School, he proceeded to receive vocational training from the Richmond Technical Center and the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center. He applied that training to a fulfilling 33-year career with the Commonwealth of Virginia's Consolidated Laboratories before retiring in 2011.

He actively participated in social activism during the 1960's while protesting with H. Rap Brown; and he routinely assisted with voter registration efforts.

Timothy has always had a pleasing personality and knew someone everywhere he went. His love of sports, music and politics was often front and center. You could count yourself lucky if he engaged you in a political discussion or a conversation about current events.

Tim's life has been a true testimony for "What the Lord has for you is for you!" The doctor's told his mom at an early age, he probably would not make it to two years of age, he lived to age 76. GOD IS A MIGHTY GOOD GOD!

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday February 4, at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Rev. A. Lincoln James officiating. A private interment service will be held in Oakwood Cemetery. Livestreaming and online guestbook at scottsfuneralhome.com.
