LaShon Simone Watkins, was born on July 29, 1970 to parents Rev. Dr. Ricky Watkins and Patricia Watkins, in New York City and was raised on the Lower East Side (L.E.S). She graced this earth with her beautiful presence for 54 years.
She launched her career in law enforcement as an administrator at the 7th precinct, NYPD in Manhattan, New York and went on to serve as a Correction Officer at the New York City Department of Correction, on Rikers Island. Retiring after 25 remarkable years, she made a significant impact through her work and compassion for others. Known for her unwavering dedication and strong work ethic, she was respected and admired by colleagues and those she served.
LaShon was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School, class of 1988. She continued her education and earned her associate degrees from the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), showcasing her commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth.
LaShon loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of Mariner’s Temple Baptist Church in Manhattan, NY. She was also a faithful supporting congregant at her father’s church, Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in Columbia, SC.
LaShon was deeply loved by her family and friends for her vibrant spirit, generosity, and resilience. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her.
LaShon was proceeded in death by her mother Patricia Watkins and sister Tashiba Villalobos. She leaves to cherish her memories, her father Rev. Dr. Ricky Watkins, First Lady Anitra Watkins, brothers Ricky and Mark Watkins, sisters Roshanda, Jazmin and Chan Watkins and Sister-in-love Jamie Watkins. Her Aunt Sheila Johnson, her nephews Brian, Ricky, Shane, Luke, Sevn and Kyle. Her nieces Jocelyn and Jordan. Great-niece CoCo and Great-nephew Koda. Her godchildren and host of family and friends who will cherish her memory forever.
