Matthew 20:26-27 declares – “But it shall not be so among you; but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; and whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant.” In other words, the measure of greatness is NOT position, material accomplishments, power, or prestige. It is SERVICE. Since our lives belong to our Almighty God, we are commanded to give service to one another.

Robert Lee Williams was a blessed and highly favored man of God in all these areas for 82 years. He is the second child and oldest son of six siblings born to Julius and Ellen Williams. He is the husband of Dr. Katherine Fowler. He is the father of Tammanicia and Terrance. He is the grandfather of Tyce Williams.

Robert completed his education endeavors in Worth County and began his working career. He acquired skills from many people in different types of jobs, including construction. He worked his way up the ranks from Laborer to Supervisor at Alcon Construction Company, where he retired after 30+ years of dedicated service.

Robert joined Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church early in his life. He served faithfully and was ordained a Deacon under the leadership of Pastor Redding. He used his construction skill to assist in the total remodeling of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. God used Robert again to build Phases I, II, and III of Messiah’s House. He received honors from the young and adult Farmers’ Organization where he served as Treasurer for many years.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Ellen Williams, and his brothers, Columbus Williams and Kenneth Williams. They are now reunited in eternity.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Katherine Fowler; his children, Tammi (Cedric), Terrance (Montoya), both of Sylvester, GA; his grandson, Tyce Farnell of Sylvester, GA; his surviving siblings, Betty of Miami, FL, Julius of Worth County, GA, Ruby (Frank) Mobley or Orlando, FL, Tommie (Debra) of Albany, GA; two sisters-in-law, Gloria of Worth County, GA and Dorothy of Sylvester, GA; his brothers-in-law, Lester (Odester) of Doerun, GA, Willie Henry (Carol) of Atlanta, GA, Donnie Fowler (Mary) of New Jersey; his sister-in-law, Ann (James) Thompson of Tifton, GA; a close friend, Thaid Austin, plus many young men he trained; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
