Kendrick Elfago “Pop” James was born on September 23, 1961,in Valdosta, Georgia, to the late Mr. Willie J. “Sonny” James and Mrs. Eloise Coleman James McLaughlin. Kendrick received his education in the Valdosta City School System and served four years in the United States Marine Corps, from January 11, 1979, to March 18, 1983. He loved to sing and truly loved fishing. Kendrick was baptized at fifteen at St. John AME Church, Valdosta, Ga, and is currently a member at St. Timothy AME Church, Valdosta, Ga.
He was preceded in death by brothers Terrence “Teepottie” James, Julian Bethea, and Earl Bethea. Stepfather, John Edward McLaughlin. Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie (Maggie) James, Jr . Ms. Rebecca(Ozie) Homer and Mr. Owen Coleman and Grandmother, Mrs. Vivian McLaughlin, Uncle Jessie “Brother” James
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Taylor Madison Howard; sisters Karen James of Pittsburgh, PA, Yolonda Michelle (Joseph) James-Miller of Novado, CA, Michelle(Leonard) Baker, and Tarnisha (Terrence) McLaughlin Grayson; and brother Jonathan McLaughlin, all of Detroit, MI.
Aunt, Mrs. Kathleen Shaw of Valdosta, GA, Uncles Judge Gregory (Sharon) Homer of Fort Valley, GA, Charlie “Sket” (Alamarine) James of San Francisco, CA. Nieces, Kinardra “KT” James, Dolica Mclaughlin, Great-t Niece Taelyn, and Great-Nephew Braelyn.
Special Friends include Ms. Gwanda ”Peanut” Irvin, Marilyn “Sweetie” Williams, Mr. Charles Lipscomb, Sr., and Mr. Alfred Smallwood, Jr., of Valdosta, GA, and a host of cousins, friends, and family.
Home going services for Mr. Kendrick “Pop” James will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 1:00 P. M. at Scott and Roberts Mortuary Chapel Rev. Tamela Walker will officiate. Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 10 from 1:00 P. M. til 5:00 P. M.
