John Willie Poynter life came to an end on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the age of 74. John was born on May 5 , 1950 in Franklin, Williamson County, TN. to the parents of Bani and Bessie Poynter.

He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Sonya Windrow; Shelika (Terrance) Walker; sons; John (Sherry) Poynter, Jr. and Brad Poynter; grandchildren, ShaBree Dodson, Devonte' Poynter, Sheria Poynter, Chantelle Dodson, Sheridan Poynter, Sherae Poynter and Sharissa Draine; great grandchildren, Cayden Williams, Jaylen Jones, Saylor Jones, A'Ryiah Hambright and A'Ryan Dodson; sisters; Mary Lee Poynter, Louise Poynter, Annie Ruth Poynter, Dorothy Poynter, Linnie Poynter and Agnes Poynter; brother, Hardin (Sara) Poynter; nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.

Mr. Poynter will lie in state on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 12 until 5 at Waters Funeral Home, 1408 Columbia Ave., Franklin, Tennessee.

Visitation with family, Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 11 until 12 at Lynn Creek Tabernacle, 117 Fairground Street, Franklin, Tennessee with funeral to follow.

Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Franklin, Tennessee.
