Charles E. Atchison, Sr. peacefully entered eternal rest at his home on November 4, 2024.

Mr. Atchison’s life spanned an impressive period of 95 years: quality family man, recognized community leader, stellar entrepreneur and affable friend and associate.

A Celebration of the Life of Charles E. Atchison, Sr. will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 700 S. Converse St., Spartanburg, SC. Interment will be in the Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2256 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC.

My father was a cab driver for Mr Atchison for many many years. As a matter of fact, my mom did also. My dad, Eugene "Red" Wright, was known as #26. I sent many of days at the cab lot. Can't forget the number 582-1286. Tell 26 to pick up his daughter. Lol. When my father was shot and killed, Mr Atchison was one of the men who offered a reward to find his killer. By my father working there was a great benefit to my family. My condolences to his family and friends, employees. I understand he was truly a trailblazer. Oh don't let me forget the Robinhood. Lol. I am so honored to have had such a great man of words and wisdom in my life. He would always tell you what was on his mind whether you liked it or not, lol. I was honored that he gave me the opportunity to be his first female bus driver, I am grateful for him playing matchmaker, because of him John is a better man with the mentorship and guidance and knowledge he gave him and John and I have been married 26 years because of his guidance.
